City Park Playground Opens

It’s official: City Park Playground is open! Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca, and Denver Parks and Recreation celebrated the completion of the playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 26, 2021. A variety of scaled towers, slides, and climbing features, including a sculptural dragon, encourages play for all ages and abilities — inclusive and accessible for all. Funding for the playground’s design and construction was provided by the Elevate Denver Bond package.

From master plan and design guidelines to conceptual design and construction documentation, Mundus Bishop has helped guide the vision, preservation, and improvement of City Park that builds upon its 120-year legacy. Guided by collaboration with the community, Denver Parks and Recreation, and the non-profit LuBird's Light Foundation, the imaginative vision for City Park Playground centers on an inclusive ‘castle’ experience. The park design enhances relationships between picnicking and play features and the park’s open meadows and groves.
